I love organic patterning, the way leaves climb and entwine themselves. So, in this design I was aiming to take a climbing leaf pattern and retain the natural feel while, at the same time, bring a regularity to the repeat so that it doesn’t become daunting to knit. — Fiona Ellis

Elegant and gorgeous, Sonder is a captivating garment of rich cables, sleek lines, and beautiful shape. Hints of lace peek out from the textured fabric, promising an enchanting knit from start to finish. Quite simply, this knit cardigan, worked up in our lush Superwash DK, is sure to be your favourite layering piece. Sonder is available on our Website or on Ravelry!

FIONA’S TIP FOR KNITTING SONDER

I found that when I was working the 1 over 1 crosses that lean to the right, I was able to cross them by working with both stitches remaining on the left needle (knit into the second stitch and then the first stitch before removing from the needle). But the ones that leaned to the left looked different and not so nice, so I ended up crossing them without a cable needle before working them. In the instructions, I included instructions for using a cable needle, but be brave and try knitting without a cable needle. You can see a tutorial on how to do that HERE.

BEHIND THE BRILLIANCE: FIONA’S FIVE FAVES

Favorite way to spend a Saturday afternoon: I live just 10 mins walk from what is described as one of the best markets in the world, so I love to shop there for cheese and fruit and plan a carpet picnic, or if the weather allows a real picnic, for dinner.

Favorite knitting fiber: Cashmere or silk….do I have to pick just one?

Favorite guilty pleasure: Bubble baths with a glass of wine, chocolate, and a good book.

Favorite spring activity: Watching the new green shoots triumphantly pushing their way above ground.

Favorite thing to wear in the spring: New sandals preferably Fluevogs and with a bright coloured manicure….saying farewell to snow boots.
