My design was originally inspired by a tiny bobble stitch pattern, which creates such a playful and fun textural element. I thought it would be a unique way to incorporate a contrast stripe into a squishy garter stitch shawl.

BRANDY’S TIP FOR KNITTING LAGOM
Just have fun with it! The design is one that can be personalized by changing up the color order to make the shawl your own. The bobble stitch may be new to many knitters, but it uses very basic knitting techniques, so it will be a great new skill for you.

BEHIND THE BRILLIANCE: BRANDY’S FIVE FAVES
Favorite way to spend a Saturday afternoon: Binging on Netflix and knitting. Or heading to the cinema for the week’s newest release.
Favorite knitting fiber: Merino wool! I have such a weakness for the stuff.
Favorite guilty pleasure: Baking and eating baklava. I make it so rarely that it is just such a fun treat to have around, but it doesn’t last long.
Favorite spring activity: Long walks with my dog, Rufus. After the cold, dark winter it is just so wonderful to spend more time outside as life returns and things become green again.
Favorite thing to wear in the spring: Skirts! Without tights! Toronto winters sometimes seem like they will never end, so being able to pull out my dresses and skirts in the spring means things might finally be warm again. Even if it means I have to shave my legs for the first time in months…
