51% Mittens in Join Hands

Andrea Rangel has a beautiful design in the powerful new eBook called Join Hands. With recent world events, craftivism has been thrust back into the spotlight and the designers in this collection have combined their heart and skills into mitten patterns that make a statement. Speaking toย inequality for women, Andrea’s 51% mittens speak loudly with gorgeous colour and patterning. Worked up in our Tough Love Sock in Snowfall and Strawberry Tea, her design highlights the need for persistence.

“I called these mittens 51% as a reminder that half the worldโ€™s people are women, and in places like the US, Canada, and the European Union, there are actually more women than men. In a fair world, women will have equal representation in government, business, and entertainment. Iโ€™m encouraged by the progress society has made, but I know we have so much room for growth. I hope these mittens are a tiny reminder to persist alongside each other toward a more just world that celebrates and includes all kinds of people.” – Andrea
