A letter to our SweetGeorgia community…

Felicia Lo's Handwoven Towels on Schacht's Baby Wolf Loom

I truly hope this message finds you safe and well.

In these challenging times, we have been working to ensure the health and well-being of our customers, community, and team members. We are committed to following the guidelines and recommendations of our public health officials.

To that end, we have temporarily suspended our in-studio knit nights and postponed the filming of a few classes from out-of-town guest instructors for the School of SweetGeorgia. Many of our team members are working at home andย we are closing the front shop of our studio to visitors for the time being. We coninue to offer online shopping and we will be shipping orders from our studio. As well, we can arrange for local customers to drive by and pick up online orders.

Staying Connected

Now, more than ever, we want to be able to provide you with a space to connect with the community. We would love to help you find some peace and calm in these uncertain times by helping you get a few moments with your favourite yarns, some uplifting colour, and some fibre friends.

Ourย Spring Make-Alongย begins today, as scheduled, and as part of that, we have a number of virtual meet-ups planned on Zoom. Feel free to join in, even if youโ€™re not starting a new project now. Just bring whatever youโ€™re working on and enjoy some crafty company. Here is our upcoming Zoom schedule:

  • Wednesday, March 18 at 10 am PST
  • Tuesday, March 24 at 10 am PST
  • Tuesday, April 7 at 10 am PST
  • Thursday, April 9 at 7 pm PST
  • Tuesday, April 14 at 10 am PST
  • Tuesday, April 21 at 10 am PST
  • Thursday, April 23 at 7 pm PST

We also hope to continue these online meet-ups following the end of our Spring Make-Along on April 24th. For Zoom call meet-up details, please subscribe to our email newsletters where we will list the link to join (unlisted currently for added Zoom security).

Our May online meet-up dates will be:

  • Thursday, May 14 at 7 pm PST, hosted by Charlotte
  • Tuesday, May 19 at 10am PST, hosted by Leah

If you are in need of inspiration, we have a collection of patterns available for free from now until April 21. You can find Evening Glitz,ย Kodila,ย Krouse,ย Floe, andย Keliasย on our website and Ravelry for free, no coupon code needed! UPDATE: We’ve added the crochet pattern Alanna to the list of free patterns available until April 21.

Staying Crafty and Calm

We have also had a number of launches scheduled for theย School of SweetGeorgiaย and we are going to go ahead with those as planned. So, next week, weโ€™ll be releasing Episode 2 ofย Handwoven Colourย and it will be all about the magic of optical mixing and blending of colours in simple handwoven cloth. Then the following week, weโ€™ll be releasing a knitting gauge workshop with Tabetha Hedrick all about the secrets to โ€œgetting gaugeโ€.

If youโ€™ve been curious about joining the School, we do offer a 30-day free trial on both the Monthly and Annual All-Access subscriptions when you use the code TRYSOS. We have also lowered the membership rates during this time. The discounted membership rates that you sign up for now will continue to renew at that discounted rate for as long as you are subscribed. So if youโ€™re looking for something crafty to do during the coming days, we welcome you to join us in the School and community there.

Iโ€™ll be hosting my regular monthly Live Office Hours on Wednesday, March 25 at 10 am PST and again on Thursday, April 30 at 10 am PST as well, and you can watch at https://www.schoolofsweetgeorgia.com/liveย or on YouTube (if youโ€™d like to join in the chat).

We are here for you and we want to be a place of positivity, encouragement, and comfort during this challenging time. Please feel free to reach out to us through our community forum or social media if you have suggestions or ways that we can help you.

Thank you so much for your understanding and support. Take care of yourselves, your families, and each other… and we hope you are all staying healthy and safe.
