MOIRA’S TIP FOR KNITTING ALISMA
My favorite tip for knitting in the round is a time-honored Elizabeth Zimmerman trick. When joining a new skein, knit a stitch with both the old and the new yarn. Leave enough on the ends to weave in later. On the next round, work the two strands together as one stitch. You’d never know it was there!

BEHIND THE BRILLIANCE: MOIRA’S FIVE FAVES
Favorite way to spend a Saturday afternoon: I try to never plan Saturdays. I just let them unfold and see where they take me. I appreciate the freedom I have now with a grown family. I can just wander at will.
Favorite knitting fiber: My favorite knitting fiber is the one that fits perfectly into my current project. There is no “one” perfect fiber for me. Every fiber has its own personality and characteristics. Sometimes the fiber inspires the project. Sometimes the project demands a certain fiber. What remains constant is my love of hand/kettle dyed yarn. They are so lively and organic.
Favorite guilty pleasure: I love chocolate chip cookies. I bargain with myself for them and reward myself with them. I occasionally sneak them too.
Favorite spring activity: Spring is for planting herbs. It’s exciting to plan all the things I want to use them for. I love the scents of spring too. Just standing outside and breathing becomes an activity!
Favorite thing to wear in the spring: It goes without saying that infinity scarves, cowls and shawls are perfect for transition seasons. They slip on and off with ease, warm when you need them and into the purse or bag when you don’t. My other spring favorite is plaid rubber boots that make me smile just wearing them. I can go anywhere on or off the road. I love my beautiful plaid all terrain rubber boots.
