Call for Submissions: Spring/Summer 2013

Moodboard 2013 SPSU

For years now, we’ve been providing yarn support for wonderfully talented designers who have been working with fantastic knit magazines and books. I love seeing what designers envision with our yarns and how things are unimaginably creative or beautiful. Now, I’d like to do more of that. This is an open call for design submissions for Spring & Summer 2013.

The deadline for submissions is September 15, 2012 and the patterns and garments for Spring and Summer are due November 15, 2012 and February 15, 2013 respectively. Download our Spring+Summer 2013 Moodboard here or you can see more of the images here on Pinterest. Here’s more info about submitting to us:

Design for SweetGeorgia

We are an artisan yarn company based in the Pacific Northwest that is intently focused on producing the most delicious and vibrant colours on the most exquisite and luxurious natural fibre yarns we can get our hands on.

Your designs in our yarns will be published by SweetGeorgia and distributed via PDF on our online shop, Ravelry, and through our retail shops.

What we are looking for

Weโ€™re on the hunt for designs that feature and take advantage of the nature of hand-dyed yarns. Garments and accessories that are simple yet infinitely wearable โ€” clothes you want to live in.

We have offered a moodboard with colour and yarn suggestions, but we will consider all ideas and submissions.

Please send your best, unique, and previously unpublished designs for sweaters, shawls, socks, hats and accessories for women, men, children and babies. One, two or three-skein projects are especially welcome.

What we offer

Designers of accepted free patterns will receive a one-time monetary compensation dependant on the complexity of the design. Designers of paid patterns will receive a percentage of pattern sales, paid quarterly via PayPal.

SweetGeorgia Yarns provides yarn support for all accepted patterns as well as tech-editing, design, charts, illustrations, and photography as needed.

All designers retain full rights to their designs, however SweetGeorgia Yarns is given exclusive publication rights for the duration of the contract.

How to submit

Please send your proposal as a PDF that includes your sketches, photographs, descriptions, pattern notes, sample charts, a generous-sized swatch, and proposed yarns.

Your contact information, including your full name, email, mailing address, and phone number. Please include a short bio too!
