Colourful, Playful Stiches: Watershed

Since the end of summer, my days have been crazy busy. Back to school, birthdays, fall activities, the Fall collection launch, our first Mystery Knit-along, more patterns and more collections, etc, etc … But, there is one sweet comfort I always come back to after a long day running around or having been stuck at a computer: my knitting. And now, as fall whispers her sweet words of coolness and change into my ear, the allure of thicker wool, cozy knits, and luxurious stitches remind me that the busy-ness of the day is easily washed away.

Watershed, one of our beautiful smoky blue hues that launched this past September, in our Superwash Worsted called me in, promising a gentle ease when I curled up for my evening craft. Outside, cool rain is falling. A heavy mist that blankets the changing leaves with a dampness that seems to reach beyond the surface, sinking deep within like a potent potion. Compelling change, growth, and renewal down in the unseen roots. Like the way the season pushes us inward. Like the way knitting changes our hearts inside.

The subtle variations in the colourwayย are soft, soaking up texture like the way the autumn leaves soak up the rain. Open and accepting. I find myself completely enchanted with both hue and stitch, so I’ve already started plotting a cowl idea!

Using US 7 needles and a long-tail cast-on, I swatched this simple beginner cable pattern and think you might just love it, too. Easy, yet fun. Luxurious, yet accessible. It’s just the ticket for your “let me sink into this knitting and forget the day” kind of knitting.
