Colourful, Playful Stitches: Tough Love Sock

Colourful Playful Stitches. Tough Love Sock in Songbird and Pistachio.

Somewhere, across the river, in the wild midst of jungle, through the lush vines that hang like streamers from the trees, there lies a secret. A mystery so intense that were it ever known, the world would be forever changed. Nearby, animals of an ancient bloodline stand watch over it’s location, nearly invisible as if part of the landscape themselves. Bright shades of green vegetation cling together, shielding the secret from prying eyes. Overhead, the brilliant hues of feathers, in shocking shades of deep blue, green, yellow, purple, and teal, whisper by, weaving in and out of the branches, guardians of their treasure down below โ€ฆ.

I know what you are thinking, “What is Tabetha going off about?!”

Call me a romantic, but these are the kinds of visions that dream themselves up in my head when I contemplate what a colour means and what, in its yarn, it wants to become! I picked out this Pistachio and Songbird and instantly, my imagination was transported to the depths of a tropical jungle. I could see in my mind’s eye the cacophony of bright colours in the feathery parrots, love birds, lorikeets, and macaws. Of course, this kind of daydreaming is exactly why I got in trouble so much at school, so let’s get back on track!

Tough Love Sock is our most popular yarn and once you pet it, you’ll see why! A smooth tight twist ensures that stitches look vibrant and textural, while remaining deliciously, touchable-y soft. I couldn’t wait to swatch with it and naturally, I went for a stitch pattern that reminded me of feathers.

In Songbird, the stitch pattern dances lightly between the short colour transitions. The results are bright and playful. That same playfulness is present in the Pistachio colourway, but the pattern definition is much bolder and most defined. I can’t really tell which one I love more!
