There are some things that I am not very good at: making pie crust, staying on track with a fitness routine, and… well, “promoting” myself. I don’t know what it is about writing or talking about yourself, but finding the words to do so seems like such a struggle! So, I hope you will forgive my embarrassment as I attempt to do what Felicia insisted I do, and that is tell you about my new book.
Cool Chunky Knits is a book I spent a good eight months on back in 2015, right before I came on board with SweetGeorgia, and it is finally, finally on the shelves. Chunky yarns are back in a pretty big way (you might have noticed our own new bulky yarn announced this week? Superwash Soft!), so putting together a small collection of simple, comfortable, and totally wearable pieces was definitely in order. Writing a knitting book is such a huge undertaking, but I think the late nights, long hours, and endless knitting might just have been worth it.
The book is filled with easy projects using only bulky and super bulky yarns. Easy AND fast, while still being super fun, casual, and lovely. You’ll find 26 projects, including hats, shawls, scarves, pullovers, and vests that are versatile enough to wear year-round.
I decided to knit two projects from the book in two of our new colourways. The yarn, the colours … it’s like they were made for each other. I used Superwash Soft in Persimmon and Songbird and I just can’t get over the stunning results.It is amazing how just a colour change can have such a dramatic effect on the feel of a piece.

It has been pretty exciting to see my name on a book cover, but I’ve had even more fun re-knitting some of the projects in this amazing new yarn. I think I’d have to use Stella! I’ve never used bulky yarn – I tend to lace & fingering with the odd foray into sport or dk – will be odd to finish a project so quickly.

Gosh there are so many beautiful colors to choose from. I am leaning towards, Canary Island, but Lakeshore drive is really pretty and shoreline has that little tint of turquoise (not quite variegated though). Okay Canary Island. You have done a great job on the book and chunky yarns knit up so quick that it is almost instant gratification. Keep up the good work and thanks for letting me chime in.

Using a bulky yarn would be a nice change from the fingering and DK I usually knit. I think Tapestry would be fun .

How exciting that your book is out. Congratulations! Songbird really is terrific and it shows even better in the project than the swatch. It is tough to narrow the selection to just one, but my first choice (at this instant in time) would be Stormchaser expecting that it would be even more spectacular than the swatch. So looking forward to knitting up some projects in Superwash Soft.

Congratulations on the book release! The patterns look beautiful. Bulky is my go to for gifts so this looks amazing. I would love to see this scarf done in Phoenix Rising. The rich russets and contrast would be stunning!
