I was one of those kids who had the box of 64 crayons as a child. I could never have enough colous! And this hat is a chance to play with combining them in just about every way imaginable in a simple fashion.

SUSAN’S TIP FOR KNITTING CRESTONES
While you only use two colours in a round, you do have three colours of yarn coming off your work at the same time. A recipe for tangling, for sure. I managed my yarns with mesh bags that snap at the top. Colours B and C (used for the purl stitches) were in one bag on my left side with the snaps closed in the middle to separate the strands coming out of the bag. Colour A (used for knit stitches) was in another bag on my right side. Because I didn’t need to worry about catching floats, it was easy to keep the two sides apart and untangled. As I changed from B to C or C to B on the left side, I would flip the bag over to keep those two from twisting.
BEHIND THE BRILLIANCE: SUSAN’S FIVE FAVES
Favorite way to spend a Sunday morning: Watching the waves while I sip my French-press coffee on the balcony of my aft cabin cruising through the Pacific. (It’s only one Sunday morning every few years, but it’s a good one!)
Favorite knitting fiber: I love working with silk/merino blends. They just feel so luscious!
Favorite guilty pleasure: I refuse to feel guilty about any pleasure!
Favorite Holiday activity: Singing the holiday concert with The Women’s Chorus of Dallas. About to do it for the 8th time!
Favorite thing to wear in the winter: Jeans and flip flops. (Hey, I live in Texas! This is not an uncommon combination around here until the highs get down to the 50s.)
