“The most fun part of knitting this shawl was watching the colors change back and forth. The possibilities for combinations are tantalizing– you could do a shawl with two very similar colors, two colors that pop against each other, or even a gradient shawl with up to five colors.”
Sumptuously lightweight and airy, this unique shawl is knit in a parallelogram shape with easy increases and decreases. The results are exquisite, especially when knit in our luxurious Merino Silk Lace. Knitters of every style will love the unique shaping and breezy feel. You can purchase Elysian via our Website or Ravelry.
EMILY’S TIP FOR KNITTINGย ELYSIAN
I find it very helpful to use stitch markers when I cast on a large number of stitches.ย After casting on 25 stitches, place a stitch marker on the needle before continuing.ย It makes counting the number of stitches that have been cast on MUCH easier.ย Then when you work the next row, remove the stitch markers as you go.
BEHIND THE BRILLIANCE: EMILY’S FIVE FAVES
Favorite way to spend a Saturday afternoon: If the weather is nice, my husband and I like to take the kids to a park or to the botanical gardens for a walk.
Favorite knitting fiber:ย Probably merino, but only because I know what to expect from it. One of my favorite parts of knitting is trying out new yarns and fibers and seeing what happens!
Favorite guilty pleasure:ย I was going to say chocolate, but it occurred to me that I don’t feel guilty about eating chocolate. Hmm! Perhaps my favorite guilty pleasure is reading a novel during the day when I might be getting other things done instead.
Favorite spring activity:ย Planting flowers and watching them grow.ย They don’t always live very long, but some will end up having flowers eventually.
Favorite thing to wear in the spring: Short sleeved shirts without a sweater, fleece, or sweatshirt to go over them. It feels like a weight has lifted.
