Today on the show, I’d like to introduce you to someone who has been an inspiration and mentor in my life, Liz Gipson. Some of you might know that Liz is the person who invited me to teach a spinning course on Craftsy.com and later worked with me for several months developing the content and then helping me film the course, Spinning Dyed Fibres.
Liz has been absolutely instrumental in the spinning and weaving community for years now. She is passionate about yarn — growing it (as in raising her own sheep and goats), spinning it, and as she says “making it do tricks”. She loves introducing newcomers to weaving using the rigid heddle loom and to help those who are already weaving weave better. She is the author of Weaving Made Easy and instructor in several rigid heddle weaving DVDs.
Liz is also the former managing editor of Spin-Off and Handwoven magazines and she has made numerous appearances on PBS, DIY, and HGTV networks. She is a founding committee member of Spinzilla, the international spinning event that is held each October. AND in 2013, she launched Yarnworker.com, a source for rigid-heddle weaving patterns and tutorials. She is also in the midst of writing another book.
