Welcome to another episode of The SweetGeorgia Show! Today, I’m going to be chatting with Kara Gott Warner, the executive editor of Creative Knitting magazine and fellow new podcaster (she’s the host of the Power Purls Podcast). In fact, I was interviewed by Kara for her show and that episode just launched yesterday, so if you are interested in hearing Kara interview me about yarn and business stuff, then I encourage you to find her podcast. It’s called the Power Purls Podcast and you can find it on iTunes and Stitcher Radio.
Kara began her career designing knitting patterns in 2002 and her designs have been published in several magazines, including: Creative Knitting, Vogue Knitting, Family Circle Easy Knitting and Interweave Knits.
Kara also has a background as a technical illustrator, working with craft book publishers. She first joined Annie’s Publishing in 2008 as knitting book editor, and then in 2010 signed on as Executive Editor of Creative Knitting Magazine and Annie’s knitting publications.
This past fall, Kara launched her new podcast, Power Purls, where she asks her guests to dig deep and explore what turned them on to knitting in the first place.

Wrapping up a Season and Seeking Your Feedback
I do also have a relatively newsworthy announcement to make and that is that after today’s episode, I will publish three more episodes of The SweetGeorgia Show before we wrap and call it a season. This does not mean the END of the show, but merely the end of a season.
When I started the show this past summer, it was very much an experiment in learning how to podcast and figuring out what would be most interesting to our friends, customers, and listeners. And with all experiments, it’s important for us to step back and take a look at what we’ve done and figure out what we can do to improve. After this season, I will have published 27 episodes that are really conversations with some of my favorite people in the knitting and yarn world. It’s the end of the year and the time when I get serious about evaluating what I did this year and seeing what I should do next year, and I really would like YOUR input here. What did you like best over these 27 episodes? What did you like the least? What would you like me to do more of? I’ve put together a short survey online and I would be so so grateful if you would take a couple minutes to send me your thoughts and suggestions for our next season. I really appreciate you guys taking the time to give feedback. I read every message and I look forward to hearing what you have to say. The survey is here »
Thanks for Listening!
Thank you so much for joining me this episode! If you enjoyed this episode, please share it with your fellow spinning and weaving friends. And if you like what I’m doing here, please leave a rating and review on iTunes for the show. I read each and every email and bit of feedback, whether it’s on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook, so I welcome your comments.
Thank you so much to Kara for joining me this episode. And yes, we have three more episodes of The SweetGeorgia Show before we take a break. Next week, I’ll be chatting with Louise Bangham Zass, a knitwear designer from the UK who designed my favorite project ever, the Foolproof Cowl. And then the following week, you’ll meet Sonia Ruyts, the owner of Stash, a local yarn shop in Oregon. And finally, for our last episode, I want to share with you a fabulous conversation I had with Jacey Boggs Faulker, the absolutely inspiring spinner, spinning teacher, and now editor in chief of PLY magazine. I hope you will join me for the next few weeks! If you would like to send me some feedback about the podcast — if you love it or hate it or what you’d like to see me change — I encourage you to go to our survey to send me your thoughts.
