Episode 037: The Darkness Fell with Caitlin Ffrench, textile artist and knitwear designer

Today on the show, we chat with Caitlin Ffrench, a textile artist working in East Vancouver. Caitlin and I met about six or seven years ago when she was working at one of our local yarn stores, Baaad Annaโ€™s, and she wanted to buy a gift for the shop owner, Anna, at that time. And since that day, Caitlin and her partner Arlin, have both come to visit SweetGeorgia so many times and Iโ€™ve had the great pleasure seeing Caitlin dive into her work as a knitwear designer, natural dyer, and fibre arts teacher. Caitlin has a strong voice as an artist and an undeniably unique aesthetic to her work. I’m excited to share her work and her perspective with you today.

What an amazing episode!!! When you mentioned bindweed, I screamed…no! I rent two plots at a community garden and this year we had bindweed!!! No matter how much I removed it, it kept coming back!! I am actually giving up one of the plot because of it.. so I really understand your disappointment Felicia! Thank you also to Caitlin for being so open and honest about your dark moments! It meant a lot to me!!
