Episode 049: Spring with SweetGeorgia Vol 2 Launch with Tabetha Hedrick

Today is launch day! So, of course, we are joined by our super wonderful Design Director for Knitwear at SweetGeorgia Yarns, Tabetha Hedrick. Tabetha has been on the podcast several times now, since each time we launch a new design collection (which is three times a year), we invite Tabetha to come on the show so we can talk about the different pieces and give you guys a little bit of the backstory on each of them.

(Just a note, today’s episode sounds rough on Felicia’s side of the conversation… almost like she’s talking into a tin can, but hopefully you’ll still enjoy our chat!)

Tabetha, thanks for breaking down your knitting process and schedule! I’m just beginning to learn to knit and I find myself getting overwhelmed by larger projects. I like the idea of breaking things down into daily chunks. Great suggestion.

I’m really digging the Sugar Craving socks and Wild Seeds, and the new yarn lineup sounds to die for. :D~~~ Sweet Georgia’s a little out of my way, but I may have to come down to check your lineup out. I hope I win the contest; I’m stoked to try those socks out.

Off topic but point of interest: is it possible to get Soft Sweater Knits on the show at some point? I’ve recently stumbled over Sylvia’s work and I’m curious to hear more about her; she’s got a really inspiring background and way of looking at things, and it would be cool to hear more about how she breaks down her process in the way that Tabetha mentioned in this podcast.

Love your show, thanks for carrying onwards and upwards!

Thank you so much Terry Lynn! That is a great idea… Sylvia is lovely and I would love to chat with her too for the show. I’m hoping to bump into her in person this Friday at our local fibre festival! Love it. Thank you Terry Lynn!

It’s so fun listening to you two chat and laugh! I feel like I’m part of a conversation between two good friends! :) I didn’t have to see a photo of the Ribbons Cardigan to know that I want to knit that pattern! All of the patterns are gorgeous and will be added to my Ravelry favorites. Thanks for another good listen!

  3. Kim Thompson Dravenstott says:

I really enjoyed the podcast- episode 49, my very first listen! I can tell that I will be listening regularly from now on. I particularly enjoyed hearing Tabetha talk about her work process- you are very very organized Tabetha! Your next project should be designing a planner for knitters that includes that information. You may have just solved the UFO dilemma single handedly…

I would really like to enter the giveaway you talked about on this episode. Thanks, looking forward to episode 50!

Best wishes to both of you, and looking forward to the new colors and patterns for spring. : )

  4. Emma Welford says:

My goodness, being lumped in the same category as Bristol Ivy is so flattering, thank you! The construction method I used in Ribbons is my absolute favorite method of sweater construction, and I think it deserves to be just as popular as top-down seamless is. I know it as ‘bottom-up seamless’ or ‘bottom-up in one piece.’ Great episode, Felicia and Tabetha, and I really love the variety in this collection.
