Everyday Lace: A Review & Scavenger Hunt

Everyday Lace by Heather Zoppetti

Everyday Lace by Heather Zoppetti

Everyday Lace: Simple, Sophisticated Knitted Garments by Heather Zoppetti is the author and designer’s first book and it struck a chord with me because I feel like her experience with lace knitting is quite like mine. In Heather’s introduction, she talks about how she was a fearless, self-taught knitter that became infatuated with lace knitting early on. But while she enjoys knitting a lot of the lovely lace shawls and projects that are popular today, she finds that she doesn’t wear them very often because they feel too special. So her book is all about bringing lace into our everyday garments, making it approachable and accessible. Exactly what I would love in my life… more “everyday” lace! Perfect!

There are 18 designs in the book, divided up into season-appropriate categories: warm, transitional, and cold. In addition, there are great tips and illustrations on essential lace knitting techniques and blocking. Here are some of my favourites from the bunch:

The photographs are all beautifully shot and I love the juxtaposition with the rusty, vintage trucks. If you’re are beginning lace knitter, have no fear… Heather has created pieces that reach knitters of all skill levels.
