It’s time to FADE-along again! After chatting with Andrea Mowry for this podcast episode I picked up my needles and launched into a Find Your Fade shawl. The easy knitting and fun colour transitions helped get me back in the knitting saddle, so to speak. Now, she’s back with a new mystery FADE-along called “What The Fade?!” and we’ve designed five new colour sets for this project!
Inspired by our favourite fictional cafés and restaurants, we’ve created five different colour sets and they include SIX skeins of Tough Love Sock in a colour palette that will fade beautifully from one hue to the next. A few of the sets include our splashy dyed skeins and a few sets are all semi-solids. These sets are priced at just $165 CAD (down from the $180 CAD original price). That works out to be about $125 USD for each set.

You’ll need SIX full-skeins of fingering weight yarn. The total approximate yardage is approximately 2000 yards (1830 m) so it is a BIG shawl and there will be lots of knitting! Here are a few tips from Andrea for choosing colours:
- Six different colours to create a cohesive fade.
- Look for nuances that can be seen from one colour to the next.
- Our Tough Love Sock skeins are 425 yards per skein of 80% superwash merino and 20% nylon fingering weight. As Andrea notes, your working gauge should be 26 sts and 60 rows for garter stitch and 26 sts and 30 rows for brioche stitch.
- All patterns are sold separately and not included with purchase of yarn.
Since the KAL starts on August 31, time is of the essence! So, we will begin shipping on Monday, August 21 and they will arrive in time for the first clue! We only have a limited number of colour sets that will be ready to ship right away!

I’ve been waiting to use that Blood Orange and Acai in my stash for a few months now and can’t wait to dive into another big, comforting knit. This will be the first time I try my hand at brioche too. Excited to fade-along with you!
