There is always some kind of knitting going on in my knitting bag, but it might not always be something I can share, unfortunately. Normally I wouldn’t show you yarns or colourways that are “works in progress” in and of themselves, but here is a peek into what I am toying with lately. A little more cashmere, a painted skein, and a touch more glitter!
I’ve been experimenting with different ways to apply our dyes and colours. If you received our March Club yarns, you might have noticed the difference from previous months. I’m looking for ways to apply the dye that incorporate more light into the skein. We have techniques to get that effect more often with spinning fibre and I love the look of the yarn it makes. With highlights of light and undyed fibre peeking out between the vibrant colours. So I’m trying this with yarn now and this is what I’ve been getting:
…which produces skeins that look like this…
… and they are knitting up like this…
The yarn is a blend of superwash merino and cashmere with a tiny sprinkling of glitter. It’s knitting up super soft and this pattern is fabulous for car/tv/braindead knitting. I do love how there is no casting on and the promise of no grafting at the end. This is the Foolproof cowl designed by Louise Zass-Bangham (who designed the Painted and Fresco scarves in our previous post).
And here is my super quick Friday Five of colourway pairs that would be great for this Foolproof cowl or our own Petal cowl:
Happy Good Friday! We’re taking the baby for his first Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday and hope to come home with a basket full of chocolate! Enjoy your Easter weekend.
