When I picked up this month’s club… oh my, I was in love! The depth and change of shade is stunning. Ray’s story to go with this month also really resonated with me. In the last couple of months, there have been a lot of changes in our life, so I completely relate to the idea that life doesn’t always go as planned. However, it’s what you do with those bumps in the road that makes life beautiful.
I stared at this skein of scrumptious of 100% Merino, Superwash Sport for a few days before deciding what to do with it. Since it is only 328 yards, and I knew I wanted to design a shawl, I took a trip back to the studio to see if I could find a complementary colour to go with this month’s club. (ie… an excuse to buy more yarn!) I chose a skein of slate grey and I’m so pleased with how it anchors the bottom of the shawl. I love the way this colourway pooled. It reminds me of a flowing river, moving around the banks, starting and stopping but always finding it’s way through.
In case you’re wondering, these photos were taken in Kootenay National Park. My family and I spent the last two weeks on a road trip through BC and Alberta. This was one of my favourite spots. Isn’t it gorgeous?
If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen my post about a four hour picot bind off. I have a love/hate relationship with this particular bind off. I love the effect, but don’t love the time!
