Have you met Kitterly yet? Sometime last year, I remember being on a call with Mari and Elizabeth as they told me all about their plans to launch this brand new website that couples patterns and yarns in the best possible way. We talked about how much work it is to sift through nearly 200,000 patterns to find the one thing you want to knit… and then how challenging it is to track down the yarn you want, in the colour you want, in the quantity you need. I distinctly remember making those treks around town, from shop to shop, trying to find the yarn I needed for a Norah Gaughan pattern I wanted to knit… only to discover (three shops into my journey) that the yarn was discontinued. Sometimes this beloved pastime becomes less relaxing and enjoyable, and more like an obstacle-ridden hunt. Here’s where Kitterly comes in. The crew at Kitterly have done the hunting for you. They sift and survey to find the most fabulous projects and pair them with equally fabulous yarns and then present them to you in an easy-peasy format. So all you have to do is pick up your needles, relax, and knit!
Linden Loop in SweetGeorgia Superwash Worsted
In addition to matching up popular knitting patterns with yarn, Kitterly has also partnered with designers to create some exclusive patterns. One of the first of these is the “Linden Loop“, a cowl designed by Carina Spencer, which uses our SweetGeorgia Superwash Worsted. “Linden Loop” combines botanical lace with a section of twisted rib that makes a perfect kerchief point. The small version is easy to wear and the the perfect size to bring along everywhere, the long version is long enough to be looped twice and has two kerchief points that layer beautifully over one another. This project is available now as a complete, ready-to-knit project bundle (digital pattern, yarn, needles and notions) or, as a simple kit with just the digital pattern and yarn. Choose from either small or large version of the cowl, in four different colorways of SweetGeorgia Superwash Worsted: Pumpkin (large sample shown), Willow (small sample shown), Ginger and Terra Firma.
Occitan Shawl in SweetGeorgia Merino Silk Fine
The Occitan shawl‘s semi-circular shape grows from a garter tab cast-on of just a few stitches and features a stockinette body with swirling increases that flow into the lacy edging. I love how there is a sweeping swirl to the stockinette section and am most especially enjoying the lace border. They look like candle flames to me. Designed by Beth Kling, Kitterly has paired this shawl pattern together with our Merino Silk Fine yarn. Choose from one of ten colours here ยป
Jackson Square Shawl in SweetGeorgia CashLuxe Fine
Jackson Square by designer Beth Kling is a shallow, crescent-shaped shawl that’s worked from the top down, beginning with a garter tab cast-on. The neat columns of twisted ribbing in the body flow into a lacy point-and-spear edging reminiscent of the wrought iron fences bordering Jackson Square in New Orleans’ French Quarter. A beautiful way to showcase a special skein of hand-dyed fingering weight yarn. Kitterly matched this one up with our CashLuxe Fine for a warm and decadent shawl. See the six colours they have to choose from here ยป
