Kate Atherley has a new book out! Knit Accessories: Essentials and Variations is Kate’s second book after last year’s Beyond Knit & Purl. Knit Accessoriesย is a great fundamental book to have in your library. It very practically does what it says โ it’s all about essential accessories (socks, hats, mitts, cowls and legwarmers) and their variations. Kate takes a simple project and gives you the recipe on how to change it up, using different yarn weights, sizes, and colourways.
For one of the projects, Kate uses our Superwash Chunky yarn for a cowl (Garter Ridge Double Wrap Cowl) that can be worn long like a scarf or double-wrapped for a closer fit. Then the pattern goes into great detail on how the cowl could be modified.
This cowl is a great way to show off a variegated chunky yarn too! Kate has used our Maple colourway for the sample and you can see how the long width of the cowl plus the garter ridges help mix up the colourway so there’s no flashing or pooling. It’s the ideal thing to knit with a two skeins of crazy coloured chunky!
The book is available to download on Ravelry. It’s a great starter pattern reference book for knitters who are thinking of venturing into creating their own designs!
