The new First Fall 2013 issue of Knitty has just launched and check out the shawl that Lotta Groeger designed in our SweetGeorgia Silk Crush yarn. Knit from the bottom up, the pattern combines lace with smocking and a textured stitch pattern… and knitting from the bottom up means that the rows get shorter the longer you knit!

The shawl uses just two skeins of fingering weight Silk Crush (50/50 superwash merino and silk blend). As Lotta mentions in her blog post, she knit the original in Wollmeise Pure, so that would work beautifully too.

The shawl is shaped like a cape. Something for the grown up woman who still hopes to get her superpowers someday and would need a cape.

If you are curious about the name, the design is an homage to one of Lotta’s favourite Doctor Who companions: Perpugilliam โ€œPeriโ€ Brown and the audioplay Peri and the Piscon Paradox.

Whatever the inspiration, it’s a beautiful shawl, and you can get the pattern free on Knitty here ยป
