Playin’ My Song MKAL Kicks Off Today

Clue One for the Playin’ My Song Mystery Knit-Along is hitting inboxes today! I’m so excited to cast on this project with all of you.

One of the perks of being a SweetGeorgia employee is the yarn you collect over the years, so I had a wealth of stash yarns to choose from. For this shawl, I’m going to use Afternoon Nap (the variegated) as my Main Colour, Mellow (Gold) for Contrast Colour 1, and Watershed for Contrast Colour 2. Drop a comment below and let me know the colours you’re partying with.

Suggested Daily Knitting Quota

I’m blocking a bit of time in the mornings before work to squeeze in my clue knitting. If you know me, you know I live by a knitting quota to keep me on track. I may want to party, but that doesn’t mean I throw my organizational skills out the window. Haha! I’m going to suggest you follow these guidelines for the Playin’ My Song MKAL this week.

  • If knitting 6 days a week, aim for 20 rows a day.
  • If knitting 5 days a week, aim for 24 rows a day.
  • If knitting 4 days a week, aim for 29 rows a day.
  • If knitting 3 days a week, aim for 39 rows a day.

The worry about mystery knits is the internal pressure to keep up. It might be fun to keep pace with others, but don’t let that deter you. There’s no need to finish “on time” because there’s really no deadline. Let this mystery knit walk you through new stitches and just savour the journey of discovery as it unfolds. That’s the goal here.

Where’s the Party?

Inside your Planning PDF and in Clue One, you’ll find a link that’ll take you to a sign-up page. That’s where you’ll sign up to receive the links for our Zoom knit-along parties. The first one is today, so I hope you join me! Of course, you’ll also find us all hanging out in the SweetGeorgia Yarns Discord #mystery knit-along channel, too.

Tutorials for Playin’ My Song

For this project, you might find the How to Garter Tab Cast-On, Weaving in Ends Along the Way, How to Match Lace Yarn Overs, How to S2kp Decrease, and Alternating Yarns tutorials helpful. Visit www.schoolofsweetgeorgia.com for more workshops and courses to expand your fibre skills.

You can join the MKAL at ANY time, so hop over to the SweetGeorgia shop or Ravelry, grab a copy, and join us for the party later today. We might just be playin’ your song.
