Cast on for the Playin’ Our Song SweetGeorgia Mystery Shawl Knit-Along is one week from today! That’s one week to buy the discounted presale pattern (here or on Ravelry), find some yarn, and work up your swatches for what I think is going to be a slammin’ good time.
Knitting Along Together
I’ve pulled three colours from my vast array of SweetGeorgia Yarns stash and am going to knit one right along with you. We’re going to be chatting and sharing photos over on the SweetGeorgia Yarns Discord server, in the #mysteryknitalong channel (which is totally free to join). I’ll be right there to answer questions that might pop up.
I’m also hosting THREE Zoom knit-togethers! You’ll need to sign up via the link found inside the Planning PDF (you receive that upon purchase) so that you can receive the Zoom links before the meetups. These are very low-key events where we’ll knit, chat, and goof off together.
- Tue, Aug 15 at 2pm EST / 11 am PST
- Tue, Aug 22 at 1pm EST / 10 am PST
- Thur, Aug 31 at 1:30pm EST / 10:30 PST
And if my pretty face isn’t enough, then I have some prizes to woo you. Wink. For every photo of your MKAL project you share in the Discord channel throughout the MKAL or tagged #sweetgeorgiaMKAL image on Instagram, you’ll be entered in a drawing for one of three prizes (and they’re going to be good ones, too!). Much to the chagrin of my coworkers, I will be dutifully logging everyone’s name on my drawing list every week, so be sure to give me a challenge. GRIN.
We took some of the guesswork out of it and made kits that are ready to ship. If you order right now, you just might get it in time!
Mystery Knits Make Me Nervous
If you’re like me, you might be a little hesitant to join in on a mystery knit-along.
- Maybe it’s the fear of being able to keep up. The timeline is set-up the way it is for a variety of reasons (such as my own work schedule and being able to devote time to being with you on this project, ensuring it’s got a *little* challenge to it, and timing with other company-wide events), but let me stress: you do not have to keep up. It’s fun to be able to knit along with other people at the same time on the same project, but that doesn’t mean you have to go out on a limb to maintain a pace that is not comfortable or doable for you. Just knit when you can, join in on the frivolity, and finish when you are ready and able to finish.
- Or maybe it’s the discomfort of not knowing what to expect. This means putting a fair bit of trust in me and my design skills. A trust that I value above all else. I work hard to create a project that I think you will enjoy making. I want you to know that I value you and the time you have to invest in your knitting, and I always aim to create a shawl you’ll enjoy making.
- Or you worry that you’ll hate the finished shawl. Well, I sure hope you don’t hate it. Haha! I may not knock it out of the park all the time. Art is subjective and I completely understand that my idea of pretty might differ from yours. If that happens, then I want you to remember that the shawl is always rippable and you can use your yarn for something else. But I hope you enjoy the journey. 😊
Maybe a mystery knit just isn’t the right thing for you. And that’s okay. We will reveal the full pattern on September 12, so you can always knit it later.
You can find all the pattern details on Playin’ My Song MKAL pattern page here on our website or over on Ravelry. The pattern is available at the discounted presale price of C$6.50, but only until August 14. Grab it today and I’ll see you August 15!
