“I absolutely love the pockets in this sweater! And the Brioche stitch at the hem of the body, but I think it’s the pockets that make it really an extra cozy sweater. The brioche adds some weight and subtle flare to the hem of the sweater and there are the cables in the center of the pockets that make them more visually interesting, and warmer.” – Kristen
Presanella, from our Fall with SweetGeorgia, Vol. 3 collection, by Kristen TenDyke is the perfect “everyday” cardigan. Like a dream in our Superwash Worsted, it lends itself well for curling up by the fire or out on a hike. Knit seamlessly with fun techniques, such as seamless pockets and a tubular cast-on and bind-off (look for video tutorials on this in the coming weeks), this unisex sweater is just the ticket for every knitter’s fall wardrobe.
The sleeves and body are knit separately from the bottom up to the underarm where they are joined and worked together for the yoke. Stitches are held for the pocket linings while knitting the body, then picked up and knit in the round on dpns after the body and yoke are completed. The buttonband and collar stitches are picked up and knit in the Brioche Pattern, while working short rows to shape the collar. It’s a guaranteed skill-builder pattern, while also being fun and delightfully textural.
