Knitting

Random Stripes

I met Grace last September when I came down to visit her shop Wildfiber in Santa Monica and go to Vogue Knitting Live in LA. She is a firecracker… and funny… and an awesome knit designer. At the January TNNA in Phoenix (I think… all these events sort of blur together), Grace came to me with that sort of mischievous smile that says “oooh, I gotta plan”. She wanted to work with our Silk Crush and she came up with this beautiful combo of Tumbled Stone and Black Plum. Knit together into random stripes, this sweater is gorgeous. I saw it in person at the June TNNA and was swept off my feet. Silk Crush is a fingering weight yarn that has shine and weight to it. Knit up on US 7 (4.5 mm) needles, it makes a loose, drapey fabric that makes this sweater kind of sloopy and dressy. Wear it with skinny jeans and boots. Or layer it over top of a short skirt. That kind of sweater. I love that the stripes go in both directions and that it’s totally random. Knit the stripes finer or fatter, however you like.

This is a sweater you can live in. You can get the pattern on Ravelry or Deep South Fibers.
