FIBRE ARTS RETREAT // NOVEMBER 1-3, 2019 // WHISTLER, BC

We invite you to join us for a weekend getaway to the beauty of Whistler, Canada! Our open studio fibre arts retreat will be held at the Brew Creek Centre.

Celebrating the west coast of B.C., the lush landscape of The Brew Creek Centre is the perfect setting to inspire creativity, spark interest in new skills and passions, as well encourage conversation and relaxation.

The weekend will offer a colourful, inviting setting with โ€œopen-studioโ€ style learning. Focus will be on knitting, weaving, spinning and dyeing, and retreat guests will have the opportunity to experience hands-on making with an inspirational supply of tools and equipment to work with.

Along with excellent facilitator guides, plus video learning in advance via the School of SweetGeorgia, we hope youโ€™ll leave the weekend armed with additional confidence in each technique. Included will also be plenty of independent time to unplug and unwind; wandering the forest hiking trails or enjoying knitting stories around the fireplace with fellow makers.

Registration will be closed after September 15th!

OUR FIBRE ARTS STUDIOS

studio facilitators

Tabetha Hedrick

Knitting Studio

Tabetha Hedrick is a knitwear designer and writer raising a family just outside the Great Smoky Mountains in Eastern Tennessee. As the Design Director for SweetGeorgia Yarns her days (and heart) are filled to the brim with knitting, art, writing, editing, planning, and finding ways to put it all together. In the midst of that fiber-filled life, youโ€™ll find her living simply in the sweet spot where creativity, discovery, parenthood, and life intertwine.

Felicia Lo Wong

Dyeing Workshop

Felicia juggles her days between her role as founder and creative director for SweetGeorgia Yarns with building the online fibre arts education site, School of SweetGeorgia. When not chasing her toddlers or hunting for tacos, she is dyeing, knitting, spinning, and weaving in her attic craft room. You can find her on Instagram at @felicialowong and @lomeetsloom.

Katrina Stewart

Katrina Stewart

Spinning Studio
Katrina, a professional photographer by trade, has had an obsession with fibre all her life. She learned to knit and crochet as a child, but her passion was truly ignited when she learned to spin in 2014. She loves the thought that every individual who looks at a braid of fibre or runs their fingers over a skein of yarn will create their own unique functional piece of art. Something to be enjoyed for years to come. You can find her on Instagram as @craftyjaks or on Ravelry as CraftyJAKs.
Amanda Milne

Amanda Milne

Weaving Studio

Amanda Milne has had a life long passion for craft and creativity. When not working behind the scenes producing Knit Social retreats and the Knit City Canada fibre festivals, she can be found knitting, weaving, embroidering, working with paper collage or reading all about food.ย You can find Amanda on Instagram @knitsocial and @knitcitycanada

The retreat will be based on single or double accommodation, and will include all food and beverages (non-alcoholic) for the weekend. Shuttle transportation will be available from Vancouver to Whistler and return, for those wanting to instead spend their time on the road knitting and enjoying the scenery among friends.
