With summertime just around the corner, we hope you enjoy these light, “pick-me-up” kind of colours this month!

This year, many of my friends and I are celebrating a not insignficant birthday milestone. Some of my friends are having a challenging time with the unspoken, perceived pressure and expectations that this birthday brings, while other friends are frustrated with our old bones not being able to keep up with our brains.

Several years ago, Teresa (on our SweetGeorgia team) gave my husband, Dan, a book on his birthday called Halftime: Moving from Success to Significance by Bob Buford, about this important time of transition. That is, to not consider your “midlife” to be a time of crisis, but rather a catalyst for designing the second half of your life to have purpose, impact, and significance. Even though it was a gift meant for Dan, I read it and it’s been at the back of my mind for the past few years now.

This month, our colourway, “Daydream”, is light and airy, fresh and bright. If you read my blog way back when, you might have remembered me arriving at my 30th birthday with immense anxiety and the burden of what I thought I should have achieved by that age. I’ll admit, it was totally depressing. Not this time around. I want this year to be a time of lightness, celebration, and imagination. A time to design a vision of our future — for myself, my family, and for SweetGeorgia — that is something beautiful and meaningful. It starts with daydreams. What do you dream of?

Yarn // Panda Sock

Daydream, May 2016 Club, Panda Sock

Panda Sock is a our favourite fluffy and silky blend of 60% superwash merino, 30% bamboo viscose, and 10% nylon spun up into a 3-ply fingering weight yarn. Each 4 oz (112 g) skein has approximately 430 yards which is typically enough to make a pair of women’s medium socks.

The combination of soft washable merino, strength-building nylon and breatheable bamboo makes for an ideal sock yarn blend. The bamboo fibre doesn’t absorb the dyes we use, so the yarn takes on a heathered and slightly shiny look.

Daydream, May 2016 Club, Panda Fibre

Panda is a divinely fluffy and silky blend of 60% superwash merino, 30% bamboo viscose, and 10% nylon. The combination of soft washable merino, strength-building nylon and breatheable bamboo makes for an ideal sock yarn blend.
The bamboo viscose fibre does not absorb the dyes that we use and the dye process results in silky white streaks alongside intensely coloured fibre. While this fibre is machine washable, avoid putting it in the dryer!
