Rivoli Shawl by Anniken Allis, knit in SweetGeorgia Merino Silk Lace (Ultraviolet)
Anniken Allis is a prolific lace knitwear designer who also happens to be one of our long-time Fibre Club members (you’ll find her spinning progress on Twitter on a regular basis) and she’s designed this gorgeous Rivoli crescent-shaped shawl in our Merino Silk Lace yarn (in Ultraviolet too!).
This gorgeous crescent shawl begins with a wide lace border. The crescent shape is achieved by working a combination of short rows and decreases. Beads add a bit of luxurious bling but are completely optional. The stitch pattern is mirrored either side of the centre line.
As Anniken notes, crescent shawls are easy to wear (less likely than triangular shawls to slip off your shoulders) and the shawl takes only one skein of yarn, which makes it a good value to knit. The beads are added as your go using a crochet hook and are completely optional. If you’ve never added beads with a crochet hook before, Anniken has even put together a video tutorial on how to do it!

1 skein SweetGeorgia Yarns Merino Silk Lace in Ultraviolet (765 yds / 700 m per 3.5 oz / 100 g skein; 50% Merino Wool, 50% Cultivated Silk)

Size 4 US / 3.5 mm circular needles, 32” / 80cm long.

16 sts and 23 rows = 4” / 10 cm in lace pattern, after blocking. Exact tension is not essential but a change in tension may affect the finished size of the shawl as well as the amount of yarn needed.
