Stitch Space was opened in June 2013, but since that time has had plenty of adventures. The store suffered a fire in March 2014, and was closed for the following summer. After spending some time in a tiny temporary location, the store re-opened in itโs current location in March 2015, just one year after the fire.
The new space is bright, cheerful, and big enough that it includes a classroom for the many knitting and crochet classes taught at Stitch Space, as well as the weekly stitch night that draws 20-30 people each Tuesday evening. In itโs third incarnation, Stitch Space is now truly the dream store & community Sasha envisioned when she first opened. The following mission statement is painted on the wall in the new classroom:
[su_quote cite=”Sasha Ball Rives”]Our mission at Stitch Space is to create a welcoming community of creativity where fiber-lovers, knitters, crocheters & wannabe creatives can learn, grow, make & be consistently inspired. A place where friends, color, texture & beautiful things intersect, and you want to stay awhile…[/su_quote]

Sunset Sky Pattern Giveaway
Sasha has generously offered a copy of her Sunset Sky shawl pattern to one of our listeners. This pattern was designed to accompany the Stitch Space custom yarn colorway, Missouri Sky, created in collaboration with SweetGeorgia. It would also be suitable for other sock weight yarns, where you wish to show off the various colors, and a more complex pattern might get lost because of this. The triangle shaped shawl utilizes dropped stitches, eyelet rows & increases. There are also short rows added to create a gently curving edge that stays on your shoulders, or around your neck easier. Fringe tops the style off, and is sure to get you noticed. Wear it as a small shawl, or with the point forward kerchief style!
To win a copy of this pattern, listen to the episode to find out the secret phrase then visit the giveaway page to enter. Good luck!
