When I picked up this month’s yarn, I almost squealed with delight. It is a perfect blend of 60% merino, 20% yak and 20% silk. To say that this yarn is a luxury is an understatement, and yes, it really is as soft as it looks. Don’t you just want to reach through the screen and squish it?
As I was driving home from the studio, I was already dreaming up what I was going to make with the yarn this month. I knew I wanted it to be a cowl or something I could wear close to the skin and funnily enough, that was one of the recommendations Felicia made too! Then I read Charlotte’s story and I knew I had to crochet the project this month. Like Charlotte, I learned to crochet when I was young and was teased a little about it. However, at this stage in my life, I’m so glad that I was strong enough to ignore the teasing and pursue it anyway.
For me, crafting, in all it’s different forms, is a great way to unwind at the end of the day and a great way to pass time while I wait at the school to pick up my girls. It’s equal parts creative and purposeful… and for me, this is key!
I love the way this simple crochet stitch created just the right amount of texture. It helps the colours to pop!
This month I made an infinity cowl and I love how it looks doubled up. I’m so looking forward to wearing it this fall and winter!
The sheen of this yarn is simply gorgeous and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the colours this month. The purples and golds together are just so rich, and are enhanced by the yarn base. As I said at the very beginning of this post, such a luxury to work with.
So what did you create with this month’s colour? We’d love to see your project over in the Ravelry group or share on Instagram with hashtags #sweetgeorgiayarns or #sgyclub!
Till next month, happy knitting (or crocheting… or spinning…) ~Katrina
