Spinning, Taking Back Friday

Spinning with the Ashford E-Spinner 3 vs the Nano EEW

Transferring yarns to storage bobbins

In the past couple of weeks I’ve been getting lots and lots of questions about e-spinners, so I want to take some time today to talk with you more about some of the e-spinner options out there.

It’s come up more recently because a couple of weeks ago we had talented spinner and writer, Debbie Held, come and teach a workshop for the School of SweetGeorgia called Spinning with E-Spinners. There is so much to know about these electric spinning wheels, so I wanted to take some time to share a little bit more about the two e-spinners I have myself โ€“ the Ashford E-Spinner 3 and the Electric Eel Wheel Nano.

Join me at today’s Taking Back Friday vlog to see these e-spinners in action. I also show how I spin a long draw using both e-spinners plus wind my handspun yarn onto spare bobbins before plying.

If you have any questions about e-spinners โ€“ how they’re different from wheels or if you should get one โ€“ please feel free to leave a comment here or join us on the School of SweetGeorgia for Debbie’s workshop!

    Felicia,

Love your podcast! What type of electric bobbin winder is that? Iโ€™m looking to purchase one. Does Sweet Georgia sell bobbin winders? Thank you.

Thanks so much Jamie! That’s a double-ended electric bobbin winder that I bought off E-bay over ten years ago… I don’t think that exact type is available anymore… it was handmade by someone. We just recently became Leclerc dealers and have been long time Schacht dealers… both Leclerc and Schacht have double-ended electric bobbin winders that we can bring in for you. Thanks so much!
