Knitting, SweetGeorgia

Summer of SweetGeorgia KAL

Unless your superhero ability is knitting in your sleep, it probably takes you a bit of time to knit a sweater… me, it takes me anywhere from a couple months to a couple years. Need a little encouragement? We’re hosting a “Sweaters and Shrugs” Knit-along (or crochet-along) this summer, starting June 1st and ending August 31st. It’s the perfect motivation to get a new cardigan ready to wear for the fall!

Check in and join the KAL/CAL on Ravelry here. Choose a sweater or shrug pattern and knit it up in any SweetGeorgia yarn to be eligible. One skein equals one entry, so with each additional skein used in your project, you’ll increase your changes of winning! (You must use at least 51 percent of a second skein to get an additional entry).

And as for prizes, we’re going to do it up big this time, as a reward for all your hard work knitting up those sweaters. It will likely be a sweater-quantity of yarn in a colourway of your choice. We’ll have more details near the end of the KAL.

Come on and join us on the SweetGeorgia group on Ravelry and we’ll look forward to seeing your projects! Susan (your ever-enthusiastic group mom) and the team at SweetGeorgia will keep popping in to see what you’re knitting and encourage you too. Knitting a sweater is no small feat, but with a little support from your knitting friends, it’s so much easier.

As for me, I’m still knitting away slowly on the Rocky Coast cardigan. This photo was taken a few weeks ago, so I promise I’ve made progress since then!

I was wondering if the announcement for the KAL/CAL would come out sooner than a day before it starts so that those of us who don’t live in the USA would not lose time waiting for our yarn to be delivered to start theKAL/ CAL? My delivery would take at least one week if not two….Just wondering…

Oh absolutely… we should announce a little earlier next time! Some of the knitters on our Ravelry group have been chatting about the next KAL for the past couple weeks, but I should have put a blurb about it on our blog a little sooner.

Perhaps there’s a LYS near you where you could get the yarns? Several of our online retailers in the US also carry stock on hand and can ship faster than we can. :)
