You’ve asked. You’ve waited. And now it’s finally time for the big reveal of the SweetGeorgia 2022 Advent patterns! This past season, we offered two yarn weight kits, and each kit contained two differentย patternย options for the maker (double the fun if you’re multicraftual!):
- The Fingering eight set contained knit and crochet shawl patterns
- The DK weight set contained knit and crochet cowl patterns
Advent Pattern Reveal
The designs from Ruth Nguyen,ย Tabethaย Hedrick, and Charlotte Lee are captivating with gorgeous colour play, stitch combinations, and construction. Don’t just take our word for it, though, because now you get to see them for yourselves.
Deck the Halls // a semi-circular lace knit shawl by Tabetha Hedrick
- yarn:ย 1 SweetGeorgia Yarns 2022 Advent set in Fingering Weight (CC1-15) (52 yd / 48 m per .5 oz / 14 g per mini-skein; Tough Love Sock, 80% Superwash Merino, 20% Nylon; CashLuxe Spark, 80% Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Spark).
Yarn Options: A) pull from stash remnants for CC1-15 (and/or change colours when you run out), use 2 full skeins of Tough Love Sock and/or CashLuxe Spark yarn and alternate MC/CC with the even/odd CC instructions, C) use 1 colour of Tough Love Sock, ignoring all colour change instructions. - needles: Size 6 US / 4 mm circular needle, 32″ / 80 cm long
Adjust needle size ifย necessary to obtain correct gauge. - gauge: 22 sts and 48 rows = 4″ / 10 cm in Garter stitch, unstretched, after blocking.
Please note that changes in gauge will affect yardage used and final measurements. - finished measurements: 82″ / 208 cm wingspan, 19″ / 48 cm at centre / deepest point
- pattern notes: This shawl is worked from the back neck down. Increases are worked at the beginning and end of every row to create a semi-circular shawl shape.
All is Bright // a semi-circular lace crochet shawl by Ruth Nguyen
- yarn:ย 1 SweetGeorgia Yarns 2022 Advent set in Fingering Weight (CC1-15) (52 yd / 48 m per .5 oz / 14 g per mini-skein; Tough Love Sock, 80% Superwash Merino, 20% Nylon; CashLuxe Spark, 80% Merino, 10% Cashmere, 10% Spark).

- pattern notes: The shawl is worked flat from the top down, with only six increase rows in the entire shawl to create the semi-circle shape.
Tinsel & Garlands // a colourful, lacey knit cowl by Ruth Nguyen
- yarn:ย 1 SweetGeorgia Yarns 2022 Advent set in DK Weight (CC1-15) (32 yd / 29 m per .5 oz / 14 g per mini-skein; 100% Superwash Merino)
Yarn Options: A) pull from stash remnants for CC1-15 (and/or change colours when you run out), use 2 full skeins of Superwash DK and alternate MC/CC with the even/odd CC instructions, C) use 1 colour of Superwash DK (2 skeins), ignoring all colour change instructions. - needles: Size 4 US / 3.5 mm circular needles, 16″ / 40 cm long
Adjust needle size ifย necessary to obtain correct gauge. - gauge: 22 sts and 31 rnds = 4โ / 10 cm in St st, after blocking.
Please note that changes in gauge will affect yardage used and final measurements. - finished measurements: 27 1/4โ / 69 cm circumference by 15″ / 38 cm depth
- pattern notes: The cowl is knit from the top down in the round.
Midnight Clear // a colourful, lacey crochet cowl by Charlotte Lee
- yarn:ย 1 SweetGeorgia Yarns 2022 Advent set in DK Weight (CC1-15) (32 yd / 29 m per .5 oz / 14 g per mini-skein; 100% Superwash Merino)
Yarn Options: A) pull from stash remnants for CC1-15 (and/or change colours when you run out), use 2 full skeins of Superwash DK and alternate MC/CC with the even/odd CC instructions, C) use 1 colour of Superwash DK (2 skeins), ignoring all colour change instructions. - hook: Size H-8 US / 5 mm crochet hook
Adjust hook size ifย necessary to obtain correct gauge. - gauge: 20 1/2 sts and 17 rows = 4″ / 10 cm in Setup Section, blocked.
Please note that changes in gauge will affect yardage used and final measurements. - finished measurements: 10 1/2″ / 26.5 cm by 25″/ 63.5 cm rectangle, folded
- pattern notes: This cowl is worked from the short side to short side, adding length in between. Stitches are decreased at the two ends by skipping stitches, then the two sloped ends are joined together to create the loop of the cowl.

Throughout the month of February, we’re aiming to squish closer for a little togethernessโฆ by using more than one strand of yarn in our projects. Our February Hold-Along is all about multi-strand knit, crochet, and weaving projects.
