Knitting, SweetGeorgia

Tallin by Deborah Dar Woon

This was inspired by all the times my loved ones lost their hat! I have a friend, though, who asked me if I could come up with something so that he didn’t have to wear his hat on the commuter train.

Tallin is amazingly unique in that one day it’s a hat and the next, you can transform it into a cowl! It’s like magic! Add in the luscious softness from our CashLuxe Spark, the simple lace, and the truly chic look, and you’ve got a knitting pattern that you’ll want to make more than once, even if you haven’t lost your hat!

DEBORAH’S TIP FOR KNITTING TALLIN

Markers are a must. To prepare to graft for finishing, I placed removable markers every 10 stitches so that I could keep track of the Kitchener Stitch progress.

BEHIND THE BRILLIANCE: DEBORAH’S FIVE FAVES

Favorite way to spend a Sunday morning: From February to November, most Sunday mornings involve a NASCAR race. Other times of the year? Mostly just knitting!

Favorite knitting fiber: I don’t really have a favourite fibre; I like soft yarns, animal, plant, acrylic; as long as it feels good. The merino/yak/silk from the April sock club was a dream to knit with, as are most cashmere blend yarns.

Favorite guilty pleasure: Pedicures and spa body wraps.

Favorite Holiday activity: Our annual Boxing Day dinner with 4 generations of relatives on my maternal side of the family. We’ve been doing this since (the beginning of time) the early 1950’s.

Favorite thing to wear in the winter: Long scarves and cowls.
