It’s been a week since Knit City and we are deep, deep into Spinzilla… and it’s been a busy, busy week! On the Friday before Knit City, SweetGeorgia Yarns hosted the Knit City kickoff party and Tempest book launch at the Vancouver Club and we are pretty happy with how it turned out. We had a sold out event and it was so great to see everybody get gussied up in their party dresses… one group of guests even arrived at the party in by limousine! I handed my camera off to Ginny early in the evening and didn’t get a chance to peek at the photos until just this morning. Here’s a recap, if you missed it!
Holli and I built our own photo booth from scratch with a little inspiration from Pinterest, a lot of glittery wrapping paper, and a couple nights of cutting and sewing. It was super fun to see everybody mugging for the camera and here are some of my favourites:
And I looove these ones of our very own Channa:
Even our dedicated dyer, David, dressed up in SGY colours with a tie for the evening!
We had a full house and we tried to encourage everybody to eat and drink but there were still two whole chocolate cakes left at the end of the evening!
Holli and I were so happy to see so many of the out-of-town Knit City instructors come to join us at the event too, despite being tired from traveling and also on a 3-hour time difference.
We gave away a bunch of great door prizes, including a fabulous project box bag from Miso Crafty Knits and a package of yarn and stitch markers from Kristan MacIntyre, as well as patterns from Holli and yarns from SweetGeorgia.
All the garments from the book were there for guests to touch and feel and try on. As Holli mentioned in her brief talk, we had 48 individual knitters help with the test and sample knitting for the book and could not have accomplished all of this without their help.
Our models, Greta and Priscilla were also both at the party to help us celebrate. Thanks so much for working with us, ladies! You are beautiful!
Thank you to Liisa, Channa, David, and Ginny for working so hard that night making sure everyone was helped or made happy! And thank you to our volunteers, Deborah Dar Woon, Kate Young, and Michelle Griffiths for helping receive guests and help at the photo booth. And thanks to my husband and family for staying late to strike and tie up all those tiny raindrops. And thanks to Holli for everything you have done to make this Tempest book happen (more on that in an upcoming post!!). Thanks to Amanda and Fiona at Knit Social who suggested that we host a party! Without them, the idea would have never come up!
And thank you to everyone who came to celebrate with us! We had so much fun, let’s do it again next year!!
