Hello, dearest friends!
Iโve had this notion of โlightnessโ on my mind the last couple of weeks. Whether from the slow dissipation of winter or from the little peeks of daffodils opening their buds, these past few weeks have seen a gentle lifting in every aspect of my making and creativity.
Out of curiosity, do you know how many definitions there are for the word?
– state of having sufficient natural light
– quality of being pale in colour
– quality of having little weight
– lack of pressure or heaviness of movement
– quality of requiring little mental effort
– quality of being easily done
This idea of lightness, in every sense of these meanings (especially the paleness from too much rain/snow and not enough sun!), is a welcome relief. The Jack Frost fellow brought a particular heaviness to this year โ especially to my knitting mojo. Now, though, it feels as though all my knitting dreams are possible. My fingers are light as a feather and swift as the wind. Iโm itching to pair this sudden onset of inspiration with the delicacy of our new SeaSilk Lace to be SURE!
But maybe youโre still in a tough spot. Perhaps winter … or life … still sits like a hunk of rock on your shoulders, and you need a little lightweight tenderness to focus on? Whether raring to go or hesitantly tiptoeing out into the sun, we have three new patterns, featuring fringe and lace, that might very much bring a sense of lightness to your making this month …
Lana by Charlotte Lee
Inspired by the moonlight skipping across the waves, Lana is a decadent crochet cowl with delicate lace and texture. With bold tassels and next-to-skin softness, itโs an accessory youโll want to make (and wear) over and over again!
Arrow Flight by Emily Wood
Arrows of stockinette stitch soar through patches of lace in this cozy accessory. The cowl, which is worked in the round and offered in two sizes, becomes a delicate luxury of texture and warmth to wrap around oneโs neck.
Christel by Tabetha Hedrick
This easy scarf is a wonderful entrance into lace for beginners. Simple eyelets nestled into ribbing and garter stitches are comforting and delicate, while the two-colour design gives ample opportunity for personalization and play.
We want you to savour springโs light touch, too, so please use the coupon code LIGHTNESS20 to take 10% off any of these three patterns. They are available on our website and on Ravlery now. The sale ends Mar 16th, though, at midnight.
What does lightness mean to you right now? Do you find it in making? Perhaps its a sense of wonder you find in some other activity? What brings you a sense of lightness after the long, dark winter. I would love to know!
Spring is coming, my friends, and with it: renewal, growth, and energy.
Happy Making!
