The Team Behind SweetGeorgia: Rachael Lee

Rachael Lee

The people behind SweetGeorgia Yarns are more amazing than you can imagine (seriously go look at the About us page; you can’t help but smile back at their smiling faces). Dedicated, motivated, and constantly inspiring with their ideas and energy. It only makes sense that you get to know each of them a bit, too, so I forced the team to humor me by answering questions about their work, crafts, and joys. First up on my display stand is the delightfully kind Rachael Lee.

What’s your job title?

Kits producer and Studio Assistant. I re-skein and package the Party of Five sets, help prepare yarn for dyeing, and assist with the dyeing process (rinsing). I answer emails and help in the front shop.

[Side note: Rachael is also one of our stunning models for knitting and crochet patterns.]

What’s the best part about your job?

The people I work with are obviously number one. Everyone is just a joy to work with. I also love helping people make colour choices; it’s always interesting to see the combinations they make and I love being able to add ideas they might not have thought of on their own.

Were you a crafter before joining SGY?

Yes! I knit and crocheted before I started working here, but have since started spinning and am about to learn to weave.

What’s a non-craft activity?

I love to read. I have a little vegetable garden and a bunch of house plants, and I love going on hikes and walks around Vancouver.

What’s a guilty pleasure?

It’s not exactly a guilty pleasure because I think it’s great, but my unconventional favourite thing is watching Murder She Wrote. I could watch it all day, every day.

If you could do anything in the world, just one thing, what would it be?

If I could do one thing in the world, I would have a little property with a huge garden and maybe raise sheep or alpacas.

And of course, everyone will want to know your favourite colourwayโ€ฆ.

My favourite colourway is Moon Phase. I’m always drawn to it every time I see it. It is a retired colour, though you can still get it in the Enchanted Mini Colour Fade set. My favourite current colourway is definitely Tofino Roadtrip. I love a lot of the Party of Fives, but that’s the one I’m always the most excited to work with.
