We’re launching the first of our spring and summer patterns now, and more will be release in the upcoming weeks! This is one of our first patterns for spring… something fun to knit and maybe a new technique for you to try, if you haven’t tried short rows before.
Designed by Jennette Cross, these Tilt & Stack Gauntlets were inspired by a photograph of a tilting stack of ceramic bowls. These gauntlets begin with the ribbing above the elbow and then rock back and forth with short row stripes down to the wrists. There are five short rows sections in the gauntlet version and two short row sections for the more standard mitt length. Both versions of the pattern are somewhat modular in nature and you can easily tweak the size by adding or subtracting eight stitches to provide more or less ease.
Knit up in our Tough Love Sock, this is a great way to combine and play with two colours. Choose high contrast colours like we have here to make the colours pop, or choose more subdued or neutral colours for a more subtle effect.
And thank you to Holly Priestly for tech editing, Marianne Wong for test knitting, and my sis-in-law, Priscilla, for modelling the gauntlets. The pattern is delivered as a 5-page PDF file with written instructions and a link to a video tutorial on how to complete the short rows. Get the pattern now on Ravelry:
And from now until March 31, 2013, you can get $1 off the pattern on Ravelry and our website, automatically.
These are dangerously sinful and I’m unabashedly coveting them for my bones next winter. Thank you for the pattern- love, love, love the modular design and colors!
