Weaving Tapestry on a Floor Loom

Weaving tapestry on a floor loom, Felicia Lo Wong

On today’s Lo Meets Loom vlog, I want to share with you the progress I’ve made on a tapestry project โ€“ one I’ve been wanting to make for some time now.

I’m taking advantage of the Tapestry Study Group that is currently going on at the School of SweetGeorgia, where many SOS Members are working away, practicing and learning the art of tapestry weaving. They’re weaving on tapestry-specific looms like the Everlea Mini Loom, Mirrix Looms, or the Schacht Arras Tapestry Loom. I have access to these looms myself, however my favourite loom right now is my Leclerc Fanny Loom. And I figured, since it’s here, why not try it out for tapestry weaving as well! Join me at today’s episode as I share more about this process.

I’d love to hear what your own favourite loom is for weaving tapestry. Do you weave tapestry on a floor loom? I love meeting other weavers in the comments, so would love to hear from you! Let me know if you have an Instagram account as I would also love to see your weaving โ€“ put your account name in the comment and I’ll find you. You can find my own weaving projects at @lomeetsloom!

I use my floor loom for tapestry. But have thought about using a backstrap loom. To beat down the beginning threads, why not use a Navajo style beater? They look just like a tapestry beater but seem sturdier.
