The Winterberries Cowl design was inspired by a lovely bush that I used to walk by on my way to and from the train station. It had bright white berries on it all fall and winter. Pretty literal, I know! From there, the companion Re-leaf Cowl wasn’t much of a leap.
Winterberry and Re-Leaf, both worked in CashLuxe Fine (so soft!), utilize the fun method of double-knitting, where two fabrics are knitted simultaneously on one pair of needles. The reversibility is fabulous, while the stitch motifs are charming in their simplicity. These luxurious cowls promise warmth, comfort, and style year-round.
AMANDA’S TIP FOR KNITTING WINTERBERRY & RE-LEAF
Double-knitting tends to be loose, so be sure to swatch, and start a couple needle sizes down from what you’d usually use to get gauge in plain stockinette.
BEHIND THE BRILLIANCE: AMANDA’S FIVE FAVES
Favorite way to spend a Sunday morning: We have a toddler and a newborn, so my favorite way to spend a Sunday morning would theoretically be sleeping. Since that’s out, coffee and knitting and then brunch would be a close second.
Favorite knitting fiber: Ooh, tough one! Depends on the project. Love BFL for socks; I’ll take merino blended with silk and/or cashmere for neck accessories, please!
Favorite guilty pleasure: Fluffy fashion blogs when I’m up in the middle of the night with the baby.
Favorite Holiday activity: Visiting our local Christmas market is one of the things I miss most about living in Munich now that we’re back in the US. Glühwein, crispy potato pancakes filled with all sorts of delicious things, funky handmade arts and crafts… What more could you want?
Favorite thing to wear in the winter: Knitwear, obviously :) Now that I’ve got a couple handspun accessories under my belt, those are definitely at the top of the pile.
