Today’s episode of Taking Back Friday is short and sweet. It’s meant to be a simple reminder that, like everything in the fibre arts and crafts, breaking a big task down into smaller chunks makes it doable. Even something that seems daunting like weaving or warping a loom is actually faster than you might think. In this video, I talk about how I prepared four looms for weaving in the past three or four days and it didn’t take nearly as much time as I thought it would!
This is really a “part one” of a longer conversation that I want to have about time and how it relates to creative work. Recently, I’ve been receiving messages from dyers and makers about how they have begun the journey of transitioning a fibre arts hobby to a business and finding it challenging to gain traction, to cut through the noise and be heard, and to ultimately progress towards success. I’m assembling my thoughts for this “part two” of a reflection on the time it takes to make things.
